Bartlein Barrel - SS, 6.5mm, B#14 M24, 8 Twist, 29'' Blank, 5R Rifling

Discover the excellence of Bartlein Barrel's SS, 6.5mm, B#14 M24 barrel with an 8 twist rate and 29'' blank, featuring advanced 5R rifling. We provide insights into how barrel contours, rifling types, and fluting can impact the performance and accuracy of your rifle.

Do Contours Affect Barrel Weight?

Yes, barrel contours do affect weight. Heavier contours can resist barrel movement when the barrel gets hot, helping maintain shot consistency. At Bartlein Barrels, our single point cut rifling minimizes stress, making the contour less critical compared to button made barrels.

Does Contour Affect How a Barrel Shoots?

Contour can influence shooting performance. Heavier barrels can enhance accuracy by reducing recoil and shooter fatigue, allowing for more rounds to be fired over extended periods. However, lighter weight contours can also perform exceptionally well.

Should Suppressors Be Used with Any Barrel Contour?

No, suppressors are typically better suited for heavier barrel contours due to their impact on harmonic vibrations. Using a suppressor with a barrel smaller than a medium palma contour may affect accuracy.

Why Is Single Point Cut Rifling Better Than Button Rifling?

Single point cut rifling, as done at Bartlein Barrels, minimizes stress in the barrel blank, ensuring consistent bore sizes and threading for muzzle attachments. Button rifled barrels can experience bore size changes and openings, particularly when threading the muzzle.

Why Is Fluting a Barrel Important?

Fluting reduces barrel weight without altering the contour, aids in barrel cooling by increasing surface area, and adds an attractive aesthetic element to the barrel. It's crucial not to flute too deeply to avoid harmonic and vibration issues.

Why Is the Rifling on a Barrel Important?

What Style Rifling Should I Get?

We offer three types of rifling: 4-groove, 5R, and Conventional-5. The style of rifling does not significantly affect accuracy or barrel life. However, 5R rifling can help prevent bullet failure due to its gentler angle on the lands and the odd number of lands in the bore.

Additional Benefits of 5R Rifling

5R rifling reduces bullet deformation and improves bullet flight, as confirmed by ammunition and bullet manufacturers. While suitable for most bullets, short jacket 6mm bullets used by short-range bench shooters may not perform as well with 5R rifling.

Explore Bartlein Barrel's premium offerings and enhance the performance of your rifle with our top-quality barrels. Whether you prioritize weight, cooling, aesthetics, or rifling type, we have the expertise to meet your needs.
