Micron Precision
Micron Precision
Micron Precision bushing sizing dies, seating dies, arbor dies, bushings, and expander mandrels are all CNC machined and hand-finished in our Fargo, ND facility. Born from over 40 years of competition experience and built to hold tolerances that show up on the target.
Brand Story
Every Micron Precision die starts as 416 stainless bar stock, with 303 stainless components and ends as a premium precision die, 100% in-house. Our CNC processes hold the industry's tightest tolerances for linear consistency, and each die body is manufactured to SAAMI specifications for the caliber you shoot. After machining, every die is hand-finished, inspected, sent out for Nitride QPQ hardening (to surface durability and lubricity). Once hardened, the die is individually polished and checked again before it ships. The Die-Loc lock-ring system uses two precision-machined rings that hold the die perpendicular to the press, eliminating the alignment issues common with single lock rings.
Product Lines at a Glance
Bushing Sizing Dies size the entire case body up to the 0.200" line based on SAAMI and CIP standard chamber dimensions, with case spring-back factored into the sizing amount for each specific cartridge. The die body opens at the shoulder so that the bushing retainer cap assembly allows for adjustable neck tension (bushings are sold separately), while an optional expander mandrel upgrade lets you decap, size and expand the neck in a single pull of the press handle. Available in 25+ calibers from .223 Remington through to .338 Lapua.
Threaded Seating Dies use a micrometer-style adjustment for repeatable seating depths in any standard 7/8"-14 threaded press. Independent testing has measured runout at approximately 0.001". Interchangeable seating stems are available in 22 cal, 6mm (short range and long range), 6.5mm/25 cal, 7mm, 30 cal and 338 cal.
Arbor Seating Dies are designed for use with an arbor press, delivering the lowest runout in the Micron lineup. Independent testing has measured approximately 0.0005" runout with these dies. Like with the threaded seaters, caliber-specific stems are available for quick cartridge changes.
Expander Mandrel System is a three-part modular add-on for Micron sizing dies. The system consists of a bushing retainer cap assembly, an expander mandrel body, and a caliber-specific decapping pin. The floating mandrel design follows the case neck during expansion, preventing added runout. The correct decapping pin length is dependent on the cartridge and range from 20mm (6mm BR) through to 48mm (28 Nosler).
Which Micron Die Setup Is Right for You?
For PRS and NRL competitors loading 6.5 Creedmoor, 6mm GT, or 6.5 PRC, the bushing sizing die paired with a threaded seating die covers the core workflow. Add the expander mandrel system if you want to also expand case neck in one sizing pass. Two-time PRS Champion Austin Orgain runs Micron Bushing Sizing Dies in his match preparation workflow.
For Benchrest and F-Class shooters chasing the smallest groups possible, the arbor seating die paired with an arbor press delivers the lowest measurable runout. Calibers like 6mm PPC, 6mm BR, and 6mm x 47 Lapua are available.
For Long-Range Hunting and ELR builds in .300 PRC, .300 Norma Magnum, or .338 Lapua, the bushing sizing die and threaded seating die handles the case volume and pressures these cartridges demand.
If you are loading for multiple calibers based off the same parent cartridge spec, the interchangeable bushings and stem system lets you swap between cartridges within the same caliber family without the need to buy a complete new die. Bushings and stems are available individually.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Die-Loc lock-ring system?
The Die-Loc system uses two precision-machined rings that come together to hold the die perpendicular to the top of the press. Unlike a single lock ring that can shift and misalign the die, the two-ring design locks the die square every time. This reduces runout introduced during installation before the die body even touches the case.
Do Micron Precision dies work with my press?
Micron threaded seating dies and bushing sizing dies use standard 7/8"-14 threading and fit any press that accepts that thread pitch, including Co-Ax, Forster, RCBS, and Redding presses. Note that some users have reported compatibility limitations with the Area 419 Zero press. Arbor seating dies require a standard arbor press. If you are unsure about compatibility, contact us before ordering.
How do I choose the right bushing size for neck tension?
Start by measuring your loaded round's neck diameter, then select a bushing 0.001" to 0.002" smaller for typical neck tension. If you are using the expander mandrel add-on, pick a bushing that sizes the neck 0.0005" to 0.001" under the mandrel diameter. This lets the mandrel set final tension uniformly rather than relying on bushing sizing alone.
What is the difference between the threaded seating die and the arbor seating die?
The threaded seating die fits a standard 7/8"-14 press and uses a micrometer top for repeatable depth adjustment, with measured runout around 0.001". The arbor seating die is a hand die with a micrometer adjustment cap for an arbor press, delivering approximately half the runout at around 0.0005". If you are loading for competition where every tenth of a thousandth matters, the arbor die is the better tool. For high-volume match prep where speed also matters, the threaded seater is the more practical choice.
Are Micron Precision dies made in the USA?
Yes. Every Micron Precision die is CNC machined, hand-finished, and inspected at Bullet Central's facility in Fargo, North Dakota. The dies are sent out for Nitride QPQ hardening, then returned for final polishing and quality inspection before shipping.
