Since relocating to our new building in 2005, Lilja Barrels has significantly upgraded its manufacturing capabilities. With the introduction of two Pratt & Whitney PLC controlled gun drills, the 1/2B-30 and 1/2B-50, our barrels are produced with exceptional precision. These ball-screw-driven machines excel in crafting outstanding holes essential for the foundation of a high-quality barrel. Additionally, the acquisition of a Haas TM-3P CNC milling machine in June of 2008 and a Haas TL1 CNC lathe in March of 2009 has expanded our capabilities to include fluting, octagon barrel work, and the production of drop-in barrels for .17, .22, and AR platforms.

Innovative Inspection and Quality Control

Quality assurance is a cornerstone of our operation. With the addition of a twist deviation inspection machine, developed by the late Mr. Manley Oakley, we can ensure the twist rate of our barrels meets strict precision standards. This innovative technology allows us to detect any deviation in the twist rate, safeguarding the accuracy of each barrel. Furthermore, the implementation of a video borescope in the spring of 1998 enables us to meticulously inspect the internal finish of our barrels, ensuring they meet the high expectations of our customers.

The Art of Hand Lapping

At Lilja Barrels, we believe that hand lapping is indispensable for achieving the smoothest possible internal finish. Our refined lapping process ensures minimal fouling and maximizes the accuracy potential of our barrels. By utilizing a borescope to monitor the development of the internal finish during lapping, we can achieve unparalleled smoothness and diameter uniformity.
