Description
Redding .276" Heat-Treated Steel Neck Sizing Bushing - 73276
The Redding .276" Heat-Treated Steel Neck Sizing Bushing is a precision-engineered component designed to enhance your reloading process by reducing sizing effort. Crafted with high-quality heat-treated steel, these bushings are built to last.
Key Features:
- Heat Treated Steel: The bushings are made from heat-treated steel, ensuring durability and longevity. The steel's surface hardness is Rc 60-62, reducing the effort required for sizing.
- Size Range: Available in various sizes ranging from .185" to .368" in .001" increments, allowing you to find the perfect fit for your cartridges.
Choosing the Right Bushing Size:
Properly selecting the bushing size is crucial for achieving a precise press fit for your bullet. Here are two methods to determine the correct bushing size:
Method 1: Measure Neck Diameter of Loaded Cartridges
1. Measure the neck diameter of several loaded or dummy cartridges using an accurate micrometer.
2. Subtract 0.001" from the measurement of the cartridge with the smallest average diameter. This accounts for a slight spring back and ensures a proper press fit for the bullet.
Method 2: Measure Neck Wall Thickness
1. Measure the neck wall thickness of cartridge cases with a ball-type or tubing micrometer.
2. Double this measurement and add the bullet diameter to calculate the neck diameter of a loaded cartridge.
3. Subtract 0.001" from the calculated figure to determine the bushing size.
While both methods are effective, the first method using an accurate micrometer is generally preferred for its simplicity and accuracy. However, if your cases have varying neck wall thickness, you may need to use a slightly smaller bushing and then use a size button in the die to finalize the inside neck diameter.
Ensure that your reloading process benefits from the precision and efficiency of the Redding .276" Heat-Treated Steel Neck Sizing Bushing. Selecting the right size is key to achieving optimal neck sizing for your cartridges, contributing to improved accuracy and overall performance.
