Choosing the Right Bushing Size:

Optimal performance begins with selecting the correct bushing size for your reloading needs. Here are some methods to help you determine the right fit:

  1. Measure Loaded or Dummy Cartridges: Use an accurate micrometer to measure the neck diameter of several loaded or dummy cartridges. Subtract 0.001_ from the smallest average measurement to allow for a slight spring back and create a proper press fit for the bullet.
  2. Measure Neck Wall Thickness: Measure the neck wall thickness of cartridge cases with a ball type or tubing micrometer. Double this measurement, add the bullet diameter, and then subtract 0.001_ to determine the bushing size. Note that this method may require a more expensive and precise micrometer.
  3. New Cases: If you're starting with new cases, the neck diameter is often small enough to hold a bullet without sizing. Measure the neck diameter of loaded cartridges or measure the neck wall thickness with a ball micrometer. In cases with non-uniform neck wall thickness, consider selecting a bushing slightly smaller than calculated and use a size button in the die for the final inside neck diameter.

Choose the method that best suits your needs, but keep in mind that consistent neck wall thickness or neck turning may be necessary for accurate sizing results.

Elevate your reloading precision with the Redding .368" Heat-Treated Steel Neck Sizing Bushing - 73368, designed to make your reloading process smoother and more efficient.
