Frequently Asked Questions

Is Alpha Munitions brass made in the USA?

Yes. Every case is designed and manufactured in Salt Lake City, Utah.

What does OCD brass mean?

OCD is Optimized Case Design, Alpha's proprietary process for the case head and body. The goal: longer primer pocket life, better pressure retention, less case growth at max loads.

Do I need to anneal Alpha brass out of the box?

No. Alpha ships factory-annealed. Most shooters start annealing around the third or fourth firing to keep neck tension consistent.

Should I buy SRP or LRP Alpha brass?

SRP gives more pocket life at max pressure and is the PRS and benchrest standard. LRP ignites better in cold and offers more primer choices. Match the pocket to your chamber and conditions.

How many firings can I expect from Alpha brass?

Ultimate Reloader's .308 SRP torture test reached 47 firings before a neck split with no primer pocket failures. Match life typically runs 15 to 30+ firings depending on load and dies.

Does Alpha brass use a small or large flash hole?

Depends on the cartridge. Some cases use a 2mm flash hole (.080 inch), larger than Lapua's 1.5mm standard. Check the product page for your caliber.
