What makes Ace Precision different?
The ACE Brake was designed by Clay Blackketter, Austin Orgain, and Tate Streater, three competitors with PRS finale and NRL championship results between them. The design solves a specific problem: traditional brakes redirect gas in ways that beat up the shooter over a two-day match. ACE uses straight side ports tilted forward to push blast away from the shooter, with top ports sized to control muzzle rise.
A locking collar with indicator lines lets you tune the brake to land recoil straight up and down, then torque it on and off without losing index. Independent recoil-rig testing on a 6GT recorded a 40% reduction in peak force and 27% reduction in recoil impulse.

Stainless is the bright machined finish. Nitride is matte black, more corrosion resistant, and slightly harder. Recoil performance is identical.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the ACE brake fit my rifle?
Bullet Central stocks the ACE in 5/8x24 thread only. Your barrel needs a 5/8x24 muzzle thread, and the bore diameter must match the brake caliber (6mm, 6.5mm, or .30 cal). If your barrel isn't threaded, our custom services team can handle muzzle threading.
What's the difference between stainless and nitride?
Stainless is the raw machined finish. Nitride adds a hardened black surface treatment that resists corrosion better and looks matte under field conditions. Recoil performance is identical.
Does the ACE brake really self-time?
Yes. The locking collar with indicator lines holds the brake's clocking position. Once you tune the brake to your rifle and tighten the set screws, you can torque it off for cleaning and reinstall to the same exact position every time.
How does it compare to the Hawkins Tank ST?
Same basic concept, larger diameter on the ACE, plus tunable compensator ports. Ultimate Reloader's recoil-rig test recorded the ACE at 40% peak force reduction vs the Tank ST at 35%, on different rifles. Both are excellent brakes. The ACE wins if you want adjustability; the Tank ST is more compact.
Does the ACE brake come with a thread protector?
No. The brake includes the locking collar and an Allen wrench. Thread protectors are sold separately. See our muzzle devices category for compatible options.
Do I need a gunsmith to install it?
No, if your barrel is already threaded 5/8x24. The brake has a 3/8" hex head for direct torque installation. If you need barrel threading work, see our custom services.
