What Makes Foundation Stocks Different?

Foundation was started in 2013 in Oklahoma by a team with a background in tool and die and production manufacturing. Their stocks are machined from a solid block of micarta, a composite of layered fabric and thermoset resin bonded under heat and pressure. The process produces a stock with no voids and no air pockets, high compression strength, and inherent vibration damping.

Every inlet is CNC-cut to the specific action it is ordered for, which is why Foundation says the stocks do not require bedding or pillars. Competition results back up the design. Every PRS season champion since 2017 has won on a Foundation stock, and the Centurion and Genesis 2 are the two most-used stocks among the top competitors in the series.

Product Lines at a Glance

Samson. Foundation's newest competition stock. Ships standard with a four-piece brass weight kit in the forend (11 oz total), a 4-way adjustable recoil pad, and a full-length ARCA rail. Available with either the Centurion grip or the Genesis 2 grip so shooters can move over without relearning their hand position.

Centurion. Vertical grip with a generous palm swell and a 2.6" flat on the bottom of the forearm for bag contact in positional stages. Weight is 5 lb 11 oz. The Centurion is the single most common stock in the top of the PRS field.

Genesis 2 (MG2). Foundation's other headline PRS stock. Grip sits closer to a traditional competition rifle with a large palm swell and slight angle. Wide fore-end with flexible mounting options for prone and positional shooting.

Revelation. Hybrid competition/hunt stock at 3 lb 14 oz. True vertical grip with a slightly thinned forend. Ships with a Pachmayr recoil pad at 13" length of pull. The Revelation is the lightest of Foundation's match-oriented stocks.

Gideon Lightweight Hunting Stock. Foundation's lightweight hunting platform at roughly 2.5 lb, built as a hybrid of micarta, carbon fiber, and aramid (Kevlar). Short-length ARCA rail, lightweight hardware, and optional night vision carriage. Made for long-range hunters who want Foundation stock feel without the competition weight.

Which Foundation Stock Is Right for You?

PRS and NRL2 positional shooting. Centurion or Samson with the Centurion grip. Pick the Centurion if you want a proven, lighter base to tune to your build. Pick the Samson if you want the built-in brass weight system and expanded buttstock adjustment.

Benchrest-leaning or flatter-grip shooters. Genesis 2, or Samson with the Genesis 2 grip. The Genesis 2 grip sits closer to a traditional target-rifle grip. Same bag-friendly forend as the Samson platform.

Two-rifle do-it-all (match plus hunting). Revelation. Light enough to carry, stiff enough to compete. True vertical grip if you want your hunting rifle to mirror your PRS build.

Mountain and back-country hunting. Gideon. Carbon fiber and aramid construction drops the weight to roughly 2.5 lb without giving up the Foundation bedding block and inlet precision.

Action compatibility. Foundation cuts inlets for Remington 700 footprint actions (Rem 700, Bighorn Origin, Bighorn TL3, Impact 737R, Curtis Axiom, Defiance Deviant, Lone Peak Fuzion, Terminus Zeus, and more) plus BAT TR and BAT HR, and is available in right-hand and left-hand configurations. Bottom metal inlet is Hawkins Precision M5 DBM. Inlets are action-specific and are not interchangeable between actions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Foundation stocks need to be bedded?

No. Foundation states that the compression strength of their micarta, combined with an action-specific CNC inlet, means no bedding or pillars are required. Some owners still choose to skim bed for extra peace of mind, but it is optional. The majority of Foundation shooters in the PRS top 10 run their stocks as-delivered.

What actions does Foundation fit?

Foundation offers inlets for most common precision action footprints: Remington 700, Impact 737R, BAT TR and HR, Bighorn Origin and TL3, Curtis Axiom and Vector, Defiance Deviant and Deviant Elite, Lone Peak Fuzion, Mausingfield, Terminus Apollo and Zeus, Surgeon 591, Templar V2, RimX, and Vudoo V-22, in both right and left hand. Inlets are cut for the specific action and are not interchangeable.

Are Foundation stocks available for left-handed shooters?

Yes. Most models including the Samson, Centurion, Genesis 2, Revelation, and Gideon are offered in both right-hand and left-hand configurations. Stock and finish availability can differ between the two, so check the filters above for what is live in inventory.

What is the length of pull on a Foundation stock?

Foundation stocks ship at 13.5" length of pull with the exception of the Revelation, which ships at 13". Length of pull is adjustable from 13" up to 16.5" with the addition or subtraction of spacers behind the recoil pad.

How heavy are Foundation stocks?

Weights depend on the model and light-versus-standard configuration. The Gideon hunting stock runs roughly 2.5 lb, the Revelation 3 lb 14 oz, the Genesis 2 around 4 lb, and the Centurion 5 lb 11 oz. The Samson is the heaviest of the lineup once the brass weight system is installed.

How long is the lead time if I order direct from Foundation?

Foundation's published lead times currently run from about 12 weeks on the Revelation up to 16 to 20 weeks on the Centurion, with most other models in between. Bullet Central carries the most-requested configurations in stock so you can skip the wait.
