What make Lapua Different?

Lapua has built cartridges in Lapua, Finland since 1923. Today the company is part of the Nammo Group, with centerfire brass and ammunition produced in Finland and rimfire ammunition produced at Nammo Schönebeck in Germany. Lapua's reputation comes from tight manufacturing tolerances: case-wall uniformity that gives consistent neck tension, the 1.5mm small flash hole used on small-rifle-primer brass, and the Scenar and Scenar-L bullets used by competitive shooters at the highest levels. More than 95% of individual biathlon medals at recent Winter Olympics were won with Lapua or sister-brand SK rimfire ammunition.

Which Lapua Is Right for You?

PRS and tactical centerfire reloaders. Pick small-primer brass for cleaner ignition and longer case life: 6.5 Creedmoor SRP, 6.5x47 Lapua, or .308 Palma SRP. The 1.5mm flash hole is the spec to know.

F-Class and long-range hunters. 6.5 PRC, .300 PRC, .338 Lapua Magnum, and .30-06 Springfield brass cover everything from heavy-bullet 1,000-yard work to long-range hunting.

Match shooters who want loaded ammo. Scenar-L OTM is Lapua's open-tip-match bullet with an updated G1/G7 profile published by Lapua. The 6.5x47 136gr and .308 Win 175gr loads are the workhorses.

Smallbore and PRS Rimfire. X-ACT is the top-tier match round, Midas is the next step down, Center-X is the all-purpose match load most shooters land on, and Pistol King is the dedicated bullseye pistol load.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Lapua use a 1.5mm flash hole on small-primer brass?

Lapua's small-rifle-primer brass uses a 1.5mm flash hole instead of the SAAMI-standard 2.0mm. Many reloaders report tighter ES/SD numbers with the smaller hole. It does mean a standard flash-hole deburring tool may not pass through, so check before using one.

Is small-primer or large-primer 6.5 Creedmoor brass better?

Both work. Small-primer brass tends to give cleaner ignition with slow powders and often shows better case life. Large-primer brass can be more forgiving in cold weather. We carry both so you can pick what your rifle prefers.

What's the difference between Scenar and Scenar-L?

Scenar-L is Lapua's updated open-tip-match bullet line with revised geometry and published G1/G7 BC data. BC currently stocks Scenar-L loaded ammunition.

What's the difference between Center-X, Midas, and X-ACT?

All three are match-grade .22 LR. Center-X is the broadly used all-purpose match round, Midas is the next tier up, and X-ACT is Lapua's top-tier round for elite competition. Center-X is where most precision rimfire shooters start.

Can Lapua brass be necked up or down?

Yes. The 6.5x47 Lapua case is commonly necked down to 6mm for 6x47 wildcats, and Lapua brass holds up well to multiple sizing operations thanks to its case-wall uniformity. Use proper lubrication and an expander mandrel.
