This is not for the faint of heart, but for the hard of hearing: Douglas is about to enter a new world. The world of competition. Tomorrow morning at 4:00am Douglas will be thrown unceremoniously into the back of Les' "Look At Me" yellow Jeep, and upon arrival at the Rush Lake Range in Minnesota Douglas will begin spewing the first of 100 plus Berger 105 Hybrids at distant steel targets. Fast and Furious will not be the mantra of the day - more like Slow As You Go. Les will expend every effort t …

Last Friday I received a barrel from Douglas Barrels. I can't really say it was long awaited, because it didn't take that long for Douglas to "spin" this barrel up. It came as a prefit for my Impact Precision 737R action that I use for PRS, plinking, steel killing and rock busting. Dimensionally it is 30 inches long and tapered to one inch at the threaded muzzle. Don't ask me what the contour is - I don't know. The thick end is chambered in 6MMBR4EVER! And the other end fits AB Suppressor's Rapt …

This poor action has to feel used and abused. After all - it's mine. It wasn't the first custom action I'd ever owned, but it was the first one that got much use. I traded a Manner's stocked long action Defiance with a 6.5-284 Bartlein for this Butch's white labeled Stiller, to retire a Remington 700 when I got serious about shooting PRS. Barrels came and went, and bullets disappeared in the general direction of all the AR500 steel I could lay eyes on. For the last few years a #3 Bartlein in 6mm …

Weekends are for shooting and having fun. They’re not for working. Yeah! Right! Saturday I drug out an Eliseo Competition Machine I’d left uncleaned and neglected in the corner for the last four years. It had poked a few targets for me at a PRS one day match in 2022, then was unceremoniously overlooked for a few seasons. I’ve taken up shooting these Dakota 600 matches lately and I thought the 6mmBR barrel on the tube gun would do really well, mostly because of the bipod Gary ma …

It’s not a dog. Doesn’t look like one. Doesn’t shoot like one. But it followed me to work today like a dog. A lot of youngsters, mid-sters and old-sters, too, shy away when there’s work to be done. Not this rifle, though. Last shooter at a meatball stage? Let’s go! First in the squad to shoot into the rising sun? Do it! Why combine these parts into one unit? Funny you should ask . . . A couple of years ago Kent - badly - wanted the action I was using, so I swapped h …
